4H Season

Wheat harvest is finished and that means its time for county fairs!  I've always wanted to be a 4H mom, but don't understand any of it...so we enter into Open Class.

My 2 youngest kids finished their first projects today...stuffies made from their own drawings.

It was somewhat fun, if only they'd learn to be a little more patient....or if I were better at tuning out every other "mom" "hey mom" or "is it my turn yet?"

Junkstock Spring 2013

Dust, mud, wind, rain, sun.....and JUNK!  That is exactly what Junkstock Spring 2013 brought for us! But oh was it totally worth it!  Never heard of Junkstock, check it out here and check out some of these pictures!
Buckled down to prepare for the wind and rain!
I wish I could remember who this vendor was!
My neighbors from across the field (for the weekend anyway)
Even a bounce house for the kids, although I was surprised that it didn't take flight,
 not even once!

Remember those ugly red wood slatted lawn chairs??  Great idea here!

So in October when you need a good junk fix, head to Junkstock you won't be disappointed.  I unfortunately won't be there...so take pictures and send them to me!

Junk Jubilee West

If you haven't heard about Junk Jubilee, click on it, well after you rad my post of course!

I recently had the pleasure of being a vintage vendor/junk slinger at the very first Junk Jubilee West in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Although the vendor numbers were small, we were a mighty group!  Here are a few pictures to tempt you to go next year!

If you can't wait, you can always check out Junk Jubilee Jingles in Des Moine!

My Big Red Neck Vacation

After 2 HUGE vintage shows two weekends in a row, we were scheduled to go on a vacation.  A camping vacation.

That means I get home Monday night after being gone for two weeks, unpack, get groceries, get the camper ready, pack everyone else and repack myself before heading off to Colorado Wednesday night.  I was so worth it!

Complete with 4 wheeling, primitive camping (well primitive as in  inside my camper with no electric or plumbing hookups and for some reason not being able to use the generator)

What I didn't get pictures of :
1. The moose
2.  Hatchet throwing contest where I almost lost my husbands head
3.  Creek fishing (for minnow sized fish)
4.  Smores in my daughters (4) hair, ear and just about everywhere else

But we did bring back a lifetime of memories!

Thank you Colorado!  This Nebraska mommy needed some unplugged time with family!

I am a REAL housewife of Nebraska....

The most recent picture of me, dirty and in the Rocky Mountains as capture beautifully by my daughter (4) she really captured the feeling of my elbow and back didn't she?
Colorado :)
Recently on vacation in Colorado (beautiful!) I had an epiphany..okay well maybe just a wild hair, but out of that, this blog was born.  I am not a writer, photographer, professional blogger, perfect wife, perfect mom or perfect anything else, but I do have a HUGE urge to do EVERYTHING!  I want to learn to weld and solder, our college offers a class that I want to take (since my husband offered to teach me but if your husband is anything like mine you know that won't ever happen!).  I want to know how to shoot the gun I own (a Circuit Judge that I recently purchased with my very own purchase permit), this fall I am taking Hunter's Safety, because my son (6) is obsessed with hunting and he does not come from a family of hunters.  I want to become more proficient in my sewing.  I want to learn to cook from scratch and healthy.  I am a Christian, even though sometimes I stumble.  I am a mother and a wife.  I know how to hitch and back up a trailer.  I know the difference between a combine and a tractor.  I like to just sit on my deck and watch the cows, especially during calving season.  I love to ride in the combine with my husband during harvest, even though the buddy seat apparently isn't made for a woman sized caboose.  I have recently decided to retire from my vintage slinging biz.  During my last show my mom asked what I was going to reinvent myself as now.  that is the question that I pondered on vacation and the answer is simply, I am not going to reinvent myself.  I am going to BE MYSELF and improve myself.  What do I hope to give you as a reader of my blog? Entertainment, Inspiration and Reality.  I want to become friends with you as the reader through feedback, comments and responses.  Share your own experiences with me!
